ESPECIALLY FOR KINDERS AND FIRST GRADERS
ALL 7TH GRADERS MUST HAVE THEIR TDAP IMMUNIZATION BEFORE THE 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR!
In response to a recent whooping cough (pertussis) epidemic in California, the California Department of Public Health has mandated all students enrolled in public education grades 7 - 12 MUST show definite proof of immunization (Tdap) against this infectious disease before the start of the 2013-14 school year. Immunization is a state requirement. Please see www.shotsforschool.org for further vaccination information.
Common Core Parent Information
California is one of 45 states nationwide to adopt the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English/Language Arts and mathematics. This shift in teaching has been characterized by some as “the most significant change to classroom instruction since 1998,” when California first adopted its own academic standards. Click the Common Core link above to learn more about the standards and how the Oceanside Unified School District is implementing Common Core in the classroom.

This spring, North Terrace piloted a new program called P.A.W.S, Positive Actions With Students. P.A.W.S is adapted from a program called S.O.A.R, which was developed by a group of special education staff in a neighboring school district.
The program has two main purposes: First, it is designed to help students better understand what it means, and how it feels, to be a young person with a disability. Secondly, the program encourages students who have social challenges as a result of their disability to further develop their social skills in a fun, supportive setting.
The P.A.W.S support team would like to sincerely thank each of students who participated in the program, their teachers, and parents. In addition, we would like to recognize and thank N.F.A.R (National Foundation for Autism Research) for their financial contribution to the program.
We look forward to continuing this program in the fall!
