This spring, North Terrace piloted a new program called P.A.W.S, Positive Actions With Students. P.A.W.S is adapted from a program called S.O.A.R, which was developed by a group of special education staff in a neighboring school district.
The program has two main purposes: First, it is designed to help students better understand what it means, and how it feels, to be a young person with a disability. Secondly, the program encourages students who have social challenges as a result of their disability to further develop their social skills in a fun, supportive setting.
The P.A.W.S support team would like to sincerely thank each of students who participated in the program, their teachers, and parents. In addition, we would like to recognize and thank N.F.A.R (National Foundation for Autism Research) for their financial contribution to the program.
We look forward to continuing this program in the fall!
